January 1st 2002. The Euro is now the currency of Greece and 11 other European countries. Goodbye Drachma - Hello Euro! You may pay with Drachma until the end of February 2002, but will usually receive change in Euro (Drachma cannot be used after the end of February 2002 - then you can convert the Drachma into Euro only at the bank).
