Agios
Nikolaos, with 9.500 inhabitants, is the capital of the Lassithi province of
Crete. It is built around a picturesque lake at the north-western side of the
Merabello bay, the biggest bay in Crete. The beauty here is endless with the
seasons succeeding one another. The climate is unique: Dry, without humidity.
The area is inhabited since antiquity.
Agios Nikolaos is the ideal place for rest and fun, all year round and for all

Ierapetra is
the most southerly town in Greece. It is known for its mild
climate, with the most sunshine and least rain in Crete.
The town is commercial centre for the south - coast of the
island. There are a lot of cafes, shops, restaurants and
hotels.

The modern town,
Sitia of today is centred around the harbour
with excellent restaurants specialising in fresh
fish supplied by the local fishermen and general
shops full of local products. There are about
800 inhabitants of the town today and the
district is renowned for its considerable
production of Olive Oil, garden products and
local village wines. Sitia
has its own magnificent sandy beach stretching
the whole width of the bay. In Sitia you will
find all types of services. There are hotels,
apartments and villas, car rental, travel
agencies, restaurants, bars, etc. In Sitia you
have to see many historical monuments.
One of them is: Kato Zakros: The 4th
extensive Minoan palace, including many pieces
of excellent workmanship. |
